After a ton of response and (often) helpful comments over the first version of this interactive infographic, I’ve incorporated almost all of the suggestions into an updated and improved version two.
Remember, this isn’t designed to be an exhaustive “let’s cover everything” graphic – often newbie ebookers are confused by too many options. So if you feel the need to tell be about that wee little app that launched last week that will add umlauts to your non-fiction books on ’80s heavy metal rock, try to resist.
But it should get most new ebook consumers out of trouble – and if they are still having trouble after poring over it a while, they can click through to the relevant help site.
What’s new
1. Added the Kobo device
2. Added the apps section
3. Added library search and “free and cheap” section
What do you think? If you would like to use this, you can do so – please go here and try to point people to the interactive version if you can – it makes things easier for new folk. And that’s kinda the point.
Alternatively, you can embed the following code, although it won’t work on LiveJournal or WordPress, sadly.
<script src=”http://www.gliffy.com/diagramEmbed.js” type=”text/javascript”> </script>
<script type=”text/javascript”> gliffy_did = “2059164″; embedGliffy(); </script>
Good luck and let me know how you like it. (I may earn a couple of bucks via links in this graphic, but it won’t cost you a thing.)

Missing Kindle for Mac.
Fixed. Thanks for that – we’re on v2.01 and counting!
